Performances
Tickets for events organised by the Feral Choir can usually be obtained from booking agent The Booth at www.thebooth.co.uk
Our regular rehearsal time is Tuesday evening from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. We usually meet at the Gordon Memorial Hall in Castle Douglas.
Rehearsal sessions are open to everyone - there are no vocal auditions and new members are welcome at specific "entry times", usually twice a year. These new member sessions provide a two-week induction time to emphasize voice-work and choir skills, rather than learning new repetoires for performance.
Workshop and rehearsal fees are usually set on a 3-tier basis, which are intended to reflect a range of incomes. However, if you feel that even the lowest rate is beyond your means, please come along anyway and pay what you can afford.
10th Jan to 27 Mar (11 weeks - not 28th Feb)
Fees: £72/£55/£36
17th Apr to 26 Jun (11 weeks)
Fees: £72/£55/£36

Past Performances
September 2011 A Land Girl's Life - Performance of newly commissioned work about life working on a farm during the 2nd World War. Researched by Ali Burns from letters and diaries written by local Land Girls. This was originally commissioned to complement the Land Girls and Lumber Jills exhibition at Shambellie House.
July 2011 Scotland Sings for Water - WaterAid event in Parliament Square, Edinburgh with other community choirs and individual singers.
Why Wateraid? Raising money for WaterAid is a great way to give something back to countries whose songs we sing but who have no system of collecting royalties. WaterAid is a hugely effective and efficient charity giving a large percentage of the money raised back into projects where community involvement is valued and expected. The Sing for Water project was started by composer Helen Chadwick in 2002. Since then almost £500,000 has been raised by singers all over Britain.

Burns: The Giftie Bard January 2011
This performance received great acclaim in Galloway when it was performed for the first time in 2009 as part of Homecoming Scotland and was repeated to full houses in 2011.
Performed in Moniaive and Edinburgh in January 2011, the choir were joined by Dave Francis and Mairi Campbell from Edinburgh who perform together as The Cast and have a sparkling reputation for their rendition of Burns’ songs. Also performing was Wendy Stewart, one of Scotland’s finest traditional harpists and Dave Orr, guitarist. In Burns: The Giftie Bard, the letters of Burns were woven together with traditional Galloway fiddle tunes and with Burns’ songs – lesser known as well as some old favourites.
Standing ovation at St Bride's Centre, Edinburgh for performance of Burns: The Giftie Bard, January 2011
After the performance in Edinburgh, we were joined by Mairi's choir, Sangstream, in the bar for some more music and singing....
